Peter Saville


Peter Saville is an English art director and graphic designer, most commonly known for his record sleeves and album covers, the most popular of which is closer by joy division which was created in 1980.
In 1978 after meeting with Tony Wilson, Peter saville became a partner in the business Factory Records and went on to design sleeves influenced by Jan tschichold. He was also influenced by the book
'Pioneers of Modern Typography' which would explain why his work focused on typographical design which can be seen on many of the sleeves he designed. His work is simple with minimal colours used as to not over shadow the typography.
In 2003 an exabition of his work was on display at London’s design museum titled “the peter saville show.”
